The idea here is to make a section covering architectural design tips for earth sheltered homes… There really are a lot of unique issues to contend with and maybe some more generic space saving suggestions that I have picked up.
As a generic upfront earth sheltered layout suggestion, I recommend looking at apartment layouts. Like earth sheltered homes, apartments are laid out assuming all the windows are on one or two walls. The primary difference is that apartments will assume that you enter thru the “back” wall. They also assume straight lines and flat ceilings, but earth sheltered homes constructed of shotcrete can have much more flexibility.
